Compared to stone, bone carvings have a distinctive energy.

Perhaps, the bone emits the energy of the previous life.

Additionally, bone has pores, layers, cavities and are often an ivory colour.

The carver works with these features to incorporate them into the sculpture.

LET THERE BE LIGHT is a dramatic portrayal of an Inuit Woman.

She is kneeling on the ground while cooking on a Qulliq (Stove carved from stone which uses Seal oil)

Our Inuk is serene and focused on the job at hand.

Her body is a perfect example of how Kudluk has fashioned the piece around the bone which gives the carving an abstract look.

Remarkable!
